Memes are definitely now apart of fan-culture. Memes are hilarious pictures that people can share and enjoy together through the Internet. These high trending photos are share over thousands of different times, and the numbers are only increasing. Through this, whatever subject is popular, will stay relevant as movies that are enjoyed and kept alive through fan bases.
Memes are examples Ang’s Paradigm of “Media in Everday Life, and “response theory”. Memes use everyday subjects and creates informational media content. The memes that I selected are among the most popular of memes. Scumbag Steve was one of the first mainstream popular meme that cause a lot of sharing and creating of media. The meme is based of a young man, who some may consider an annoying person to be around.
The second meme I chose was the is the angry- stick figure guy meme. The meme is fun to use when it becomes times to express frustrated emotions. I think what makes the meme so funny is it’s popularity and all the extra popularity it received from media users. The last meme I chose is grumpy cat. Grumy Cat is my favorite, because it holds as a great example to how impactful sharing information online is. Ever since a photo of a cat looking grumpy went viral, the whole idea became a trending topic. Grumpy Cat can now be found with his own Twitter, own parties, shirts, and etc.
